The essentials in 20 seconds
A good prompt is a clear instruction given to ChatGPT: the more precise it is, the better the answer. This page brings together over 100 ready-to-copy prompt examples, sorted by need (writing, work, marketing, photos, code, studies, daily life…).
Use the search bar and the tabs to find the right prompt, copy it in one click, then test it free and without signing up in Nation AI.
“Give me some content ideas.” This kind of request will always produce a lukewarm answer. “Act as a B2B marketing expert and suggest 10 LinkedIn post ideas for an audience of HR directors, with a hook for each idea”: now that’s a real prompt. The difference between an ordinary answer and a usable result almost always comes down to the quality of the instruction.
To save you time, we’ve gathered below a library of over 100 ChatGPT prompt examples, tested and reusable, organised by type of need. Each one is designed as a template: you replace the elements in brackets […] with your own situation, and you get a tailor-made answer. Before the library, a quick refresher on what a prompt is and the method for writing a truly effective one.

What is a prompt? (with an example)
A prompt (or “query” / “instruction”) is the text you write to an AI like ChatGPT to ask it for something. It’s your instruction. The AI doesn’t guess your intent: it answers exactly what you phrase. A vague prompt gives a vague answer; a precise, contextualised prompt gives a useful answer.
A concrete example
Weak prompt: “Write an email.” → Generic, unusable answer.
Good prompt: “Write a professional, courteous email to reschedule a client meeting from Tuesday to Thursday. Polite but direct tone, 6 lines maximum, in English.” → An answer you can use straight away.
To dig deeper into the concept itself, see our detailed definition: what is a prompt in AI.
The method for a good prompt: 5 ingredients
You don’t need to be an engineer to write an excellent prompt. Most of the time, you just have to combine five ingredients. Not all of them are mandatory, but the more you add, the more accurate the answer.
| Ingredient | What it’s for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Role | Give the AI an area of expertise | “Act as a nutrition coach…” |
| 2. Context | Spell out your situation | “I’m a beginner, I have 30 min a day…” |
| 3. Task | Say precisely what to do | “…suggest a 4-week programme” |
| 4. Format | Frame the shape of the answer | “…as a table, week by week” |
| 5. Constraints | Set limits (tone, length, language) | “…in English, no jargon, 200 words max” |
The tip that changes everything
If the answer doesn’t suit you, don’t start from scratch: refine it. “Shorter”, “warmer tone”, “add a figure-based example”, “rephrase for a beginner audience”. ChatGPT keeps track of the conversation: the back-and-forth accounts for 80% of the final quality.

ChatGPT prompts for your photos and images
This is the use that’s exploding: recent versions of ChatGPT can generate and transform images. From a simple photo or a description, you get a professional portrait, an avatar, an illustration or a visual for your social media. The secret is the same as with text: a precise prompt (style, framing, mood, colours) gives a far better result.

3 reflexes for a successful photo prompt
Describe the style (“realistic photo”, “watercolour illustration”, “minimalist 3D”), the framing (“portrait”, “wide shot”, “top-down view”) and themood (“soft late-afternoon light”, “plain light-grey background”). To edit an existing photo, upload it then describe only what needs to change.
All our photo/image prompts are gathered in the “Photo & image” tab of the library above. To generate your visuals without installing anything, use our AI imagetool, or get started with the ideas in our article on AI “starter pack” prompts.
Test these prompts for free (no sign-up)
A prompt is only worth as much as the result it produces. The simplest approach: copy any example on this page and paste it into Nation AI, our assistant built in France. You test it immediately, free and without creating an account. Nation AI draws on the best models available, with a layer designed in France to respond in natural English.
Your prompts, tested in 2 seconds
Copy an example, open Nation AI, paste, send. Free, no sign-up.
And if you get stuck on the wording, let the prompt generator write the instruction for you, or explore all of our free AI tools (proofreader, rephrasing, PDF summary, image…).
5 mistakes that ruin a prompt
- Staying too vague. “Tell me about marketing” doesn’t help the AI hit the mark. Give an angle, an audience, a goal.
- Asking for everything at once. Better to break it down: first the outline, then the writing, then the proofreading.
- Forgetting the expected format. Table, list, email, 200 words: spell it out, otherwise the AI chooses for you.
- Not giving an example. Pasting a sample of the style you want (“write in this tone: …”) hugely improves the result.
- Giving up on the first draft. The real power lies in rephrasing: keep adjusting until the result is perfect.
Good to know
Always check the facts, figures and quotes the AI produces: it can be confidently wrong. For a text that will be published, proofread and cross-check. ChatGPT is an excellent assistant, not an authoritative source.
FAQ: ChatGPT prompt examples
What are the best prompts for ChatGPT?
The best prompts are the ones that match your need precisely. In practice, the most useful ones assign a role to the AI, give context and require a clear format. The library on this page brings together more than 100 of them, sorted by use (writing, work, marketing, photos, studies, code…) — just copy the one that fits your situation and adapt it.
How do you write a good ChatGPT prompt?
Combine five ingredients: a role (“act as an expert…”), the context (your situation), the task (exactly what you want), the format (table, list, length) and constraints (tone, language). Then refine the answer through successive requests. It’s the back-and-forth that produces the best result.
What is a prompt, with a simple example?
A prompt is the instruction you write to the AI. Example: “Summarise this text in 5 key points, in English, for a reader in a hurry: [paste the text]”. The AI does exactly what you ask; the more precise the instruction, the more usable the answer.
Are there free ChatGPT prompts?
Yes. All the prompts on this page are free and copyable. To test them, you don’t even need an account: paste them into Nation AI, usable for free and in English.
How do you write a prompt to generate an image or transform a photo?
Describe the subject, the style (realistic, illustration, 3D…), the framing and the mood. To transform a photo, upload it and specify only the change you want (“put a neutral background”, “professional portrait style”). See the “Photo & image” tab of the library and our AI image.
Can you get these prompts as a PDF?
The handiest approach is to copy each prompt directly in one click from this page, always up to date. If you want your own sheet, copy your favourite prompts into a document and export it as a PDF; that way you keep only the ones that are useful to you.
In short
A ChatGPT prompt example is only valuable if it’s precise and tailored to your need. Pick from the library above, replace the brackets with your own situation, and above all: refine the answer little by little. The best way to improve? Testing. Copy a prompt and run it right away, for free and in English, in Nation AI.
